The Thief on the Cross vs Water Baptism

Few Christian doctrines have caused more confusion than whether water baptism is necessary for salvation. Many will point to the thief on the cross as justification to not do it.

It is difficult to know whether baptism is necessary or not.

I explained to him that there is no turning back so he needed to be absolutely certain. He said that he wanted to be baptised so we all piled in to our cars and went down to the river.
